Who

Problem
The databases were not able to remit data collected from terminals to the control center in real time.
The data contains information on electricity demand from each region. Without the information, KEPCO would have difficulty in providing adequate electricity to places where there is a shortage.
With Oracle databases, KEPCO was only able to collect two batches of electricity consumption data in a day, which was not enough to analyze where electricity was distributed and consumed.
Consequently, the SCADA systems were not able to function properly because of the bottleneck caused by Oracle databases.
Solution
Results
Real time collection and analysis of a wide array of data is possible with Altibase. The data includes temperature abnormalities, natural disasters, human error and power loss.
KEPCO reduced TCO by 33.3%.
Data is processed 10 times faster than Oracle databases.
Power is analyzed and distributed across the nation in real time.
