How does Altibase replication compare to Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC)?

Altibase replication and Oracle RAC are similar in that they both can be used to enable high availability architectures.
However, there are some fundamental differences. One of the most obvious differences is that Oracle RAC uses a shared-storage architecture whereas Altibase replication is shared-nothing.
While each architecture has advantages and disadvantages, one of the main disadvantages of shared-storage is that it maintains a single point of failure. But the biggest disadvantage of Oracle RAC is cost. Oracle RAC implementations are enormously expensive, and the same availability targets can often be met with much simpler solutions.
Most importantly, Altibase's replication is free of charge. It is also worth noting that only a very small percentage of Oracle customers (around 3~5%) have deployed RAC.

Altibase replication utilizes a shared-nothing architecture which provides significant speed and stability gains over Oracle’s shared disk architecture. RAC’s shared disk system utilizes global exclusive locks which dramatically increase latency whereas Altibase replication offers excellent features that Oracle RAC does not support.
