The migration process takes approximately one day per TB of data. If your system can handle concurrent processing, approximately 4TB of data can be migrated per day. If you have a significant amount of data (petabytes), parallelization can be utilized to expedite the migration.
Migration Process
Phase | Activities | Duration |
System Analysis | | 1 day per DBMS |
Impact Analysis | | 1 day per DBMS |
Planning | | 1.5 day |
Migration | Data Mapping | | + α (depends on schema complexity level) |
Executing | | 1 day per terabyte |
Optimization | | 1 ~ 3 days |
Total | 5 days + α (α: day(s) affected by application change impact) |
Examples of Migration Results
| Company A | Company B |
Source DBMS | Oracle 9i | Informix 11.50 |
Number of Tables | 2,000 | 800 |
Number of Indices | 7,000 | 2,000 |
Data Size | 350 gigabytes | 2,048 gigabytes |
Total Duration | 4 days (10 hours for data migration) | 5 days (48 hours for data migration) |
