Altibase Highlights Real-Time Disaster Recovery Strategies in Webinar on Mission-Critical IT Resilience

Altibase announced that it held a webinar on March 26 via AllShowTV, the webinar broadcasting platform of Electronic Times, under the theme “Disaster Recovery: No Longer Optional, but Essential.”

The webinar was organized to address the growing need for disaster recovery (DR) systems in an environment where data volumes are rapidly increasing and service continuity has become critical. Triggered by incidents such as the fire at the National Information Resources Service, which caused prolonged disruption of key information systems, the importance of maintaining continuous service even in the event of physical failures has become more evident than ever.
During the session, Altibase highlighted “real-time data synchronization based on redundancy” as a key component of DR architecture. The presentation introduced two fundamental metrics used in DR design: RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective). RTO refers to the maximum acceptable time required to restore services after a failure, while RPO defines the acceptable point in time to which data loss can be tolerated. Organizations typically design their DR strategies and system architectures based on these benchmarks.
The webinar also covered technical approaches to minimizing service disruption during database failures, including methods for implementing real-time DR using built-in DBMS capabilities. Altibase explained that its database includes a native replication feature that enables organizations to establish a DR environment without the need for additional DR solutions. This functionality ensures that data changes are synchronized in real time, allowing immediate failover and seamless service continuity in the event of a system failure. As a result, enterprises can build reliable DR systems without introducing complex external tools.
In addition, Altibase emphasized that its high-performance data processing capabilities enable real-time data synchronization across geographically separated sites, making it possible to implement effective DR architectures even in physically distributed environments. This approach is increasingly adopted in industries such as finance and telecommunications, where uninterrupted service is critical.
The webinar also presented practical use cases across various industries and outlined DR implementation strategies aligned with RTO and RPO requirements. IT professionals from sectors including finance, telecommunications, manufacturing, and the public sector attended the session, engaging in active discussions on DR architecture and operational strategies during the Q&A session.
Mr. Pae, Head of Pre-Sales at ALTIBASE, who led the presentation, stated that disaster recovery has become an essential component of modern enterprise IT environments.
