“26 Years of Commitment to Korean DBMS”… ALTIBASE Receives the Grand Prize at the 12th Korea Software Product Quality Awards

ALTIBASE, a South Korea–based database management system (DBMS) company, has won the top honor—the Grand Prize—at the 12th Korea Software Product Quality Awards.
According to the company on the 25th, this award recognizes ALTIBASE’s 26-year track record of homegrown DBMS engineering and its outstanding product quality management capabilities, at a ceremony co-hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA), and the Electronic Times.
Since its establishment in 1999 following a technology transfer from the ETRI “Bada” research project, ALTIBASE has pursued a singular mission to develop world-class databases using entirely Korean-built technology. It achieved a major milestone by commercializing a hybrid DBMS that integrated both in-memory and on-disk tables within a single engine—the first of its kind in the world—driving continuous innovation in the database industry.
ALTIBASE’s technological competitiveness is supported by its own rigorous quality management system. Leveraging 26 years of accumulated expertise, ALTIBASE automated every stage of database production—from product upgrades to unit-testing and security patches—while establishing advanced performance monitoring and test coverage across the entire DBMS feature set to maximize customer value, without compromise.
Its strong technical quality has also translated into global business momentum. In 2025, ALTIBASE won contracts in Thailand’s public cloud infrastructure market, and reinforced strategic alliances across Asia, including recent partnerships entered in Vietnam, along with continued market acceleration throughout the Five Eyes region.
ALTIBASE continues to invest in future technologies by developing cloud-native DBMS, AI-ready vector search and distributed sharding, supported by a 3-year innovation roadmap. Its upcoming releases include Altibase Windows 2026 (planned for late 2025) and the next-generation distributed database Altibase Sharding 3 (planned for early 2026).
