Altibase, a leading database (DB) solution provider led by CEO Helena Park, announced on the 9th that it has established a new overseas subsidiary to oversee operations in Southeast Asia, signaling the company’s full-scale expansion into the Asia-Pacific (APAC) market.
Last month, the company launched ‘Altibase SEA (South East Asia)’ in Singapore. The new entity will operate in key markets including Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Altibase SEA aims to implement localized sales and marketing strategies tailored to the characteristics of each country and client. The goal is to provide database solutions optimized for each country’s IT infrastructure and industrial environment, in order to meet the rapidly growing demand across the APAC region. Through this initiative, the company plans to lay a foundation for its evolution into a global enterprise.
Altibase is especially focusing on high-demand sectors such as finance, telecommunications, and public institutions, where its core high-performance DB technology can provide strong value.
In parallel, the company is actively strengthening collaborations with global IT giants to broaden its international reach. Joint development projects with organizations such as IBM APAC and HP Japan/APAC are underway, enhancing Altibase’s technical competitiveness and exploring diverse partnership models.
One such key initiative is the ‘In-Memory DB Appliance Joint Development Project’ with prominent global IT players in the APAC region. This project targets ultra-high-performance, large-scale data processing and analytics, leveraging a new version of Altibase that is optimized for cloud-native databases, big data, and AI-ready data solutions. It is expected to play a critical role in boosting the company’s global market competitiveness.
To support its APAC expansion, Altibase recently launched the upgraded ‘Altibase V7.3’, which features significantly improved performance and scalability. The new version includes cloud-native functionality through the Altibase Kubernetes Utility (AKU), enabling auto scale-out/scale-in operations for up to six database nodes. According to the company, benchmark tests showed performance improvements of up to 490% in key functions compared to the previous version.
As part of its Southeast Asia market entry, Altibase has also prepared a customized local sales strategy kit—‘Altibase Sales Kit’—to align with each country’s unique market characteristics.
David Kim, Head of Altibase SEA, stated, “We will implement region-specific marketing strategies and build a strong local partner network to pursue joint business opportunities. By delivering customized DB solutions to key industries and collaborating with local companies, we aim to continually develop solutions that align with customer needs.”
Richard Nahm, Head of Global Sales and Marketing at Altibase, added, “Starting with Southeast Asia, we plan to expand into North America, Europe, and the Middle East. To accelerate this effort, we are pursuing strategic partnerships with promising Korean tech firms preparing for global expansion, enabling joint market entry.”
Altibase intends to create innovative K-Technology products by combining each partner’s technological strengths and market competitiveness. The company is committed to co-growing in the global market through superior technology and service, and establishing itself as a leader in next-generation database solutions.
